Laboratory of Biochemical Computation

We study how the busy lives of molecules shape behavior.

Biochemical computation

Our goal is to combine the fields of systems neuroscience and cell signaling to study slow, biochemical computation inside the brain. We measure and manipulate intracellular signals over seconds, minutes, hours, and days to understand how they influence neural activity and behavioral choices over these timescales.

Training scientists

There is time to do, to think, to learn, to teach, to read, and to write. Everyone should have opportunities to exercise and improve in these areas. We work towards a common vision of the lab while supporting the goals of individuals.

Developing tools

We use light to study biochemical signals in living neurons, brain tissues, and behaving animals. We customize hardware and software solutions to overcome experimental challenges. We tinker, improve, and collaborate.

We are currently recruiting technicians, graduate students, and postdoctoral fellows!
